In co-operation with Labo Rigo in Genk, we developed a VR training application that could help new trainee's familiarize themselves with industry-standard automated laboratory machines. Because these modular lab systems are so expensive and complex, you can't easily let students or other interested parties "try them out", especially not on job expo's or other presentation opportunities. That's where Digilabs can make a difference. With our tool, you can try out processing some basic samples, making sure all reagents are topped up, and loading the correct electrode cassettes.
We tested our application with the help of some excellent lab technicians, who noted that a lot of the 3D visualisation was true to life! Of course, a lot more development can be done to elevate this into an actual training tool, but it did succeed as a proof-of-concept.
